HAND of the Peninsula

The volunteers of HAND of the Peninsula provide peer support and information concerning pregnancy loss and perinatal death to parents, their relatives and friends during the normal mourning following miscarriage, genetic abortion, stillbirth or newborn death of their babies. There are no fees for HAND services. Our organization relies entirely on grants and donations to support its programs.

HAND of the Peninsula is grateful for all donations. Without the contributions which we receive, it would be impossible to offer the breadth of services and the depth of support that we now provide to grieving parents and their loved ones. The generosity of those who have contributed to HAND of the Peninsula in the past has allowed us to provide information and support to hundreds of bereaved families at what has very often been the most difficult time in their lives.

Library and meeting space is provided free of charge to HAND of the Peninsula through a very generous in-kind contribution by the Mills Health Center in San Mateo, California. In the past many HAND programs have been generously funded by the Sequoia Health Care District. Our organization has also received generous grants from the Peninsula Community Foundation, the Woodlawn Foundation and the Sand Hill Foundation.

Cash donations and eScrip contributions which we receive must cover all of our other expenses. Operating expenses for HAND of the Peninsula include:

  • General office expenses, such as stationery, supplies, equipment, telephone and postage.
  • Printing of our quarterly newsletter.
  • Purchase of books, video tapes, and other library resources.
  • Information distribution to local hospitals and health care professionals.
  • Burial and funeral subsidies for families in need.
  • Sponsorship for health care providers, professional counselors and others to attend relevant regional and national conferences.
  • Monthly Internet and web hosting fees.
HAND of the Peninsula is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions to our organization are tax deductible to the full extent permissible by law. If you do choose to make a donation, you will receive a letter of acknowledgement from HAND of the Peninsula and your contribution will be recognized in our newsletter and on the acknowledgements page of this web site. You may also choose to have a letter of acknowledgement sent to a third party.

If you have any questions about making a donation to HAND of the Peninsula, please contact our office. We thank you in advance for your consideration. Donations in any amount are much needed and greatly appreciated.
